Are TV aerials being phased out?

The short answer is no.  A TV aerial will never be completely useless. Aerials can still be used for other purposes such as supplementing CG Radio signals and to capture long-wave digital TV signals.

Which TV aerial is best for Freeview?

If you want to receive Freeview through your smart TV, you will an aerial for watching live TV in your area. You do not need an aerial to watch on-demand services as you will be streaming content from the internet.

Do analog aerials still work?

Yes. Whether an aerial is encoded for analogue or digital, it makes no difference. They work by receiving radio waves within a certain frequency range. Digital or analogue reception is a dependent on the TV tuner, not the aerial.

There are a few things that affect whether or not your analogue aerial still works for digital reception. You test this by plugging in the lead from your old aerial and trying it out with minimal risk. If the aerial was installed conventionally, you may get amazing, some or no reception. Nothing is at risk of being damaged.

Can you install a TV aerial yourself?

You can but why take the risk? It can be a dangerous job installing a TV aerial even with the right equipment.  In general, it is recommended to hire a professional to install your TV aerial. Not only does hiring a professional allow you to relax whilst your aerial is being installed, it also gives you the peace of mind knowing that a fantastic job is being done with a 12 month guarantee. This means that if you have issues with your installation within 12 months of installation, we can solve your problem at no additional.
